Finnish Writing Competition

02.06.2024

In the spring of 2024, an English school organised a Finnish writing competition for the first time. In the future, the Finnish writing competition will alternate with the English Spelling Bee. The aim of the competition was to highlight the importance of the Finnish language in bilingual education and to provide an opportunity to participate in the competition by creating a Finnish literary work. The competition was held at the primary school. There were two series: preschool and students from first to second grade, and students from third to sixth grade. In both series, there were four categories: story, fact, poem, and art from words. A total of 102 entries were received. The competition period was in March, and prizes were awarded to the winners on May Day. The winners received gold medals, and all participants were given bookmarks and pencils.

A warm thank you to all participants!
